These days most of our time is spent at home. Despite the new reality of less outside interacts we are still taking in bad energy —mainly due to the exorbitant amount of terrible news and combative online interacts. So it's important that we continue to maintain positive energy and minds.
Sageing (also know as smudging) is a great way to energetically cleanse a space or person to invite positive energy. It's one of the oldest and purest methods of cleansing unwanted spirits. Sage also has antimicrobial properties that clears bacteria in the air and is a great form of aromatherapy to improve odor or add fragrance to a room.
TYPES OF SAGE
You probably didn't know that there are many types of sage with different purposes. The graphic below has a few sticks and their intentions.

It's all about finding the right tool to perform the healing that you desire. When shopping, experts recommend ethically produced sage and advise against sellers like Amazon. Another thing to consider if you’re not into the smell of sage, Palo Santo is a great alternatives as far as aroma goes!
HOW TO SAGE
it's important to leave a window or door open before, during, and after. This allows smoke to escape and provides a pathway for negative energy to leave.
Prepping
Once you're ready light the end of a sage bundle, let it burn for about 20 seconds and then gently blow out the flame so that you see orange embers on one end. Then you can start the process of clearing your space.
When sageing you want to be sure to focus on the areas of your space that are the most frequented as energy gather's there and would need diffusing. Personally, If I'm having bad dreams I like to sage around my bed and pillows. If you find yourself sitting on social media in a certain spot
For objects direct smoke around and over the object of your choice. This could be new items, such as jewelry, furniture, or clothing, to protect from negative energy or older items related to negative experiences/memories.
For spaces in general direct the smoke over all surfaces and spaces in that area. Be thorough.

Aftercare
Once you are done make sure your sage stick is completely extinguished. Check the end closely to make sure there are no more embers burning. Once it’s completely put out, store it in a safe, dry place out of the sun.
When all of that is done take a few deep breaths and go about your day keeping up positive thoughts and good energy! Because a cleansed space is nothing if your mind is still cluttered.
